The Strand had to wait more than six months for “Yankee Doodle Dandy” to finish its roadshow engagement at the Hollywood Theatre. But with lower ticket prices and a stage show added, the Strand grossed $71,000 in its first week, for its best takings since the screen/stage policy started in 1937.
