This cinema was ahead of its time. The smoking section was removed soon after most cinemas forced a no smoking ban in the 1970s. It was also the first THX certified cinema in New Jersey when Temple of Doom opened in 1984. Sadly it closed down when the 9 screen essex green opened in 1997 and was the first general cinema in NJ to have stadium seating and THX, followed by Clifton Commons in 1999 before AMC took over both locations and removed the THX signage.
