The Majestic cinema was built for R L Kemp (Cinemas) Ltd. As with many of Kemp’s cinemas if possible they combined facilities for stage productions, as we see here in 1952. Kemp also like many other cinema owners used the same team Architect A. J. Thraves, contractors J. H. Metcalf Brothers, Doncaster and W.J. Wilson & Son, Mansfield for the interior decorations. These three were also responsible for the 1930 rebuilding of the New Empire for Kemp in 1930.
