The Mighty Wurlitzer organ at the Ritz on opening in 1937. Removed in 1971/2 and went to the Isle of Wight and installed in the purchaser’s private home and then to Norfolk. Currently in storage and in private hands. Anyone know where? and if the surround is still intact? The organ was on a hydraulic lift in front of the stage and the pipe chambers were below the stage. I only ever heard this instrument played on 1 occassion before removal and stared in awe at the coloured lights in the surround changing as it was played. It was just a shame that the accoustics in the Ritz were fairly poor to allow the organ to ‘speak’ as intended. Sadly no recordings of this organ were ever made………unless you know otherwise?
