I think that the Nixon’s main historical importance was as a “legit” playhouse. “High Button Shoes” was a Broadway stage hit in 1947, starring Phil Silvers. Eddie Foy, Jr. replaced him in the road company.
This is actually a picture of the original Nixon Theatre in Pittsburgh, probably around the late ‘40s.
