Fotosho on Flagler Street

On the right side, you can see the FotoSho which is on Flagler Street in 1927. My guess is that this is the version rebuilt after the ‘26 Hurricane and THAT is what became the Ainsley Building. The earlier Foto Show was at 51 SW 1st Avenue.

Ben, I don’t know if there was ever an earlier Foto Show at 51 SW 1st Avenue where the Claude Pepper Federal Building is now, but I believe all of the Fotoshos shown in the photos section for this listing are of the same location.

As I’ve said on the main page:

The building to the left/west of the Fotosho in the earliest and latest (shown above) street scenes in the photos section of this listing still exists.

Look at Google Street View for 71 East Flagler Street and adjust the image to match the photos. The building next door in 2017 no longer has a balcony over the sidewalk but the windows and especially the rectangular portion sticking up towards the sky from the top of the center of the building is present in all time periods.

71 East Flagler Street in 2017 is the address of a Metro PCS Store. That and the Pizzarium at 69 East Flagler next to it are the storefronts on the bottom floor of the Ainsley Building (built in the 1950’s) that today are where the entrance to the Fotosho had been before the Fotosho‘s building was demolished. (Using address number 71 instead of 69 seems to give a more accurate Street View image when compared to the photos.)

Looks like the physical appearance of the front of the Fotosho in the photos section evolved over its years but was always at this location. Perhaps 51 SW 1st Avenue was the address before downtown Miami was readdressed?
