“Picnic” opened at RCMH on February 15th, 1956. In the original Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway play, Ralph Meeker and Janice Rule had the roles taken by Holden and Novak. Betty Field replaced Kim Stanley, and Rosalind Russell took over from Eileen Heckart.
