One of the most significant bookings in the El Capitan’s history took place in 1934, when beloved humorist Will Rogers returned to the stage for the West Coast premiere engagement of Eugene O’Neill’s only comedy play, “Ah, Wilderness!”. The patriarch’s role had been enacted on Broadway by George M. Cohan.
