"National Lampoon's Animal House" has got to be the funniest movie I ever saw. Which scene did you find to be the funniest?Newer: HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS GREATEST HITS - PART I: Which of these films do you think was the best to come out of Columbia Pictures? Older: What time of the week do you most often go out to the movies? (Show all) YOUR COMMENTS
The look on Belushi's face during "I Gave my Love a Cherry" and the look on his face in Werner's office with a pencil stuck up each nose.
You got to be kidding right. Luckily I've erased most of this movie from my memory, an overated cult comedy classic like Young Frankenstein or Caddyshack from back then.
I agree with dantop500. I had the misfortune to see this movie once, and thought it was predictable, juvenile, and about as clever as a book of Knock-Knock jokes.
I was a junior in high school. We thought it was great. I admit it.hasn't aged well, but have any of us?
Try watching "1941" or "Blazing Saddles" without loosing your dentures after hilarious laughing!
I am about to watch it on HD DVD for the first time!I always thought the guitar smashing scene was funny without seeing what came before.I recently rediscovered MURDER BY DEATH!I can't believe how funny it still is, why has it been mostly forgotten?
Dantop500, you consider YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN and CADDYSHACK overated???I'm almost afraid to ask what films you do consider funny. PLEASE don't tell me it's something with an idiot like Will Ferrel or Jack Black!!!
Yes Anchorman and Talladega Nights are pretty good. His best is Stranger Than Fiction, which is of a different ilk. Blazing Saddles and Murder by Death which someone mentioned above are much funnier movies from the 70's. Also recommended Mel Brook's Silent Movie and High Anxiety, Woody Allen's Bananas and Love and Death, Neil Simon's The Cheap Detective and my favorite comedy of the 70's, the Kentucky Fried Movie which lead to the great Airplane. I don't think those comedies mentioned previously are that bad they're just overated (alright Caddyshack is bad). Yes and thinking of those stars in that film I recommend Chevy's Foul Play and Fletch, Bill Murray's Meatballs, Stripes and Groundhog Day(which is great) and Rodney Dangerfield's hilarious Back to School.
The "Germans bombed Pearl Harbor" pep talk was pretty good too....
"Mind if we dance wiff your dates?"
MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL continues to be my favorite comedy of all time.
I have to say, also, that I recently discovered HOW TO MURDER YOUR WIFE with Jack Lemmon. It had me cracking up. And that Verna Lisi - DAMN!!!
I remember Kentucky Fried Movie always being paired with The Groove Tube. I remember both being very funny. But, I have to say, the best over all funny movie (for me) was AIRPLANE! But, I guess, that's another poll.
BLAZING SADDLES continues to be one of the funniest movies ever made!!!!
The best thing Belushi, or Andy Kauffman ever did was DIE...
Favorite Line: "Toga, Toga, Toga". I love Belushi but hey I also love Jack Black. Think I have a thing for short, chubby funny guys lol
