Beaux-ArtsClassic movie theaters in the Beaux-Arts styleTaught at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, this architectural style emphasized the combination of the forms of classical Greek and Roman architecture with the ideals of the Renaissance, usually embellished with highly eclectic and ornate details such as flowers, garlands, shields, and statuary. The Beaux-Arts style was one of the most dominant architectural styles between about 1885 to 1920. The style was first widely popularized in the United States in 1893 at the "White City" of the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago.
