The White Sands opened in 1941 seating 456. The movie house continued with films until the late-1960's. It then became a braodcast center which lasted until the mid-1990's.

In the late-1990's it got a facelift and the interior and exterior were restored to its Art Deco style. It now operates as a live performance venue.

Shouldn't the theater title above be "Sands Theater" since that is what the marquee in the supplied photos says? Alamogordo is close to White Sands National Monument, and the main drag is White Sands Blvd., so the confusion is understandable.
