The Kendra Drive-in is a family operation. The story told by Employees was that years ago two girls kept coming to the Drive-in and Marlyn Sanders couldn't figure out why.Found out they were "working Girls" and they were working the lot propositioning men to come back to their car.Stories like this you can't make up. Back in 1974 the Kendra decided to show "THE CHEERLEADERS" and "Grimm's Fairy Tales for Adults".Both X rated, but hardly hard-core. They over sold the Drive-in folks wanting to walk in and the employees kept hearing "Don't tell my preacher I was here".

Family members running the Kendra in the early 90's were Todd Dearing {who was a real projectionist, that had to make change overs,no platter for him} Kendra Dearing, whose name shines on the Marquee runs everything along with help from Marlyn Sanders and Ken Sanders. This could be one of the last Drive-ins in that area.

Amazing story about the "working girls." Bet this wasn't the only drive-in where stuff like this was going on. You wouldn't think a drive-in would be the best spot for some private fun of that kind anyway. But I guess if business is good then what the heck. Glad to hear it's still an operating drive-in. Certainly not often these days to hear the phrase "this drive-in is still open." Thanks for the nice background details Mike.

Mike: I enjoyed putting them up for you very much. You'll probably think of a few others in Augusta that you might have forgotten about as time goes by. If so just send them to me.

MORE NICK, if you still have that picture of the MODJESKA being torn down do you think you can get it on CT.Also the box office at Regency Mall. I gave the pictures to ROBIN ,but haven't seen any of them.I can't remember what else i sent, but if you could get them on it would be great. TLSLOEWS sent her some Drive-in pictures from Nashville so I hope he has better luck.Maybe He outta send them to you,I think the newness of CT has worn off with Robin.
