This theatre is located on the north shore of Kauai, in the community of Kilauea. It shares the name of another theatre on the big island. The wooden hall is said to be one of the former Kilauea Sugar Plantation buildings, dating back to the late 19th century, and was used in the 1950s to show movies to plantation workers. The theatre was known for first run and art movies, as well as serving as a venue for concerts and community meetings. In July of 2004 the theatre raised some local controversy by premiering Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11". The theatre closed in July 2005, and is now home to a local church.
