WYO Theater

The WYO Theater was built in 1923 as a vaudeville house called the Lotus Theatre. Later, the theater switched to movies-only format and was renovated in 1941 and given a new Moderne facade. The theater held out for another four decades before closing in 1982.

A non-profit group later restored the theater and reopened it as a performing arts center in 1989.

We saw a live performance at this fine theatre on 5/26/07. Very comfortable, but I don't believe the capacity is 483. It looked more like 800 to 1000.

Here is a 1955 view of Main Street in Sheridan. The Wyo marquee is behind the Lotus Cafe sign. On the marquee, the two films are "This Island Earth" and "Tarzan's Hidden Jungle":
