This little theatre is located downtown in Chandler, OK. It opened on September 16, 1926 and hasn't been messed with much. Instead of a marquee, it has a portico-style face complete with two columns on either side of the doorway.

Designed by architect A.C. Davis & Sons of Shawnee, OK, it was constructed by the Hill Co. of Ada, OK. One hundred and thirty three thousand bricks were used in construction., the interior by Wirf Paint & Glass Company of Shawnee OK, drapes fashioned by Beaumont Studios, New York.

The owner is currently restoring the ceiling in the auditorium having been damaged by years of moisture. This theatre shows first-run movies and is open nightly.

I was in Chandler a few days ago. The museum across the street has a few of the original seats with the H&S logo on the side. Looking at some of the exhibits, it appears that the Odeon Theater was in business close to the H&S until 1955. However, there was some confusion amongst the locals as to whether the Odeon was next door to the H&S or down the street.

This c1940 photo of Chandler's Odeon serves to illustrate how humble some small town theatres could be.
