As recent as 10/25/02 it was a venue for live comedy:

"So you've had a hankering for drag queens, impersonation, comedy and cabaret since Hedwig? Well, join the club! Or, even better, go to it. Pueblo's Chief Theater presents gender-bending diva and comedienne Titania LaVey & Co. "So put on your makeup..." etc., and head down 611 N. Main St. in Pueblo at 9 p.m. Tickets are $5.50 in advance (available at Independent Records), $6.50 the day of the show. For more info, call 719/545-2566."

A 1985 view of the Chief Theater in Pueblo open and showing movies here and here and a 1987 view here and here closed and for sale for $75,000. Sounds like a bargain. What great detail the the thunderbirds were in the small hexagon openings on each side of the "Chief" sign.
