The Chattanooga Arts Theatre acquired the Park Theatre, which was shuttered in the 1950's, in 1963 with the intent to convert it to a performing arts facility. I haven't come across any information to date regarding the current status of this building.

I may be wrong, but I thought in the 1960's when I was in college that the Park Theater was replaced by a plumbing and piping business. My grandmother used to be an assistant type manager at the Park in the fifties, but I do not remember for how long.

I remember the Park Theater very well. i used to live on Willow Street in Chattanooga. Went about every Saturday up to the Park Theater to watch the serials and the movies. The Park used to advertise on the Willow Street side of the building about the coming attractions.

In 1965 the Park was a dinner theater. My fraternity had our New Year's Eve party there. It was an Independent Theater and may not have been sold to Martin Theaters.

was it the terrill electric that moved into the old park theater in the 60s?
