First opened in the 1970's, this theater is one of the few summer only theaters left in the USA. The theater is located in the resort town of Montauk, New York, in the eastern most part of the state.

Whenever for I am in the Hamptons I drive past this place, but have never gone in. I am going to make a point of doing it this summer.

August of 1974 when "Mame" went on wide run after the Music Hall, the Montauk is listed as a UA. Anyone ever know anything about UA operating it?

I've lived in the Hamptons every summer for nearly 30 years, but I've never seen a movie here. I've seen it, though. An adorable little "mom and pop" movie theater that shows first-run movies. I'm glad it hasn't closed down.

This theater operates from April through October and it does show first run movies. Spiderman 3 is playing there now.

Can anyone shed a light on the approximate age/decade of this theatre please? I have a listing in the Film Daily Yearbook;1941 edition, of a Montauk Theatre, located in the township of Montauk Point, Long Island which has a a seating capacity of 350. It is listed as 'Closed' in that edition and doesn't appear in either the 1943 or 1950 editions of F.D.Y.

Great...I have never seen a picture of this theater. One of the few seasonal theaters left in the USA!

Is the correct name of this theater "The Movie"? Why is that name on the building?

According to the manager the season is generally April to October but others factors may influence those dates, particularly the availability of a film that he particularly wants to screen. He also said the theatre goes back to the 70's which surprises me.
