The Lake was a small movie house in the center of Lake George which was opened prior to 1941. For many years it was owned by Steven Quade, who also owned the Tahoe Resort Motel.

The 1950 edition of Film Daily Yearbook lists it as being a 'Seasonal' operation.

I can't recall the last time I was in Lake George, but do remember seeing "Frenzy" at The Lake sometime in the Summer of '72. The theatre was closed on subsequent visits. My guess is The Lake closed in the mid to late 70's. After shuttering, the front/boxoffice area of theatre was used as a souvenuir(?) stand. Beautiful area, great stop for history buffs with location of Fort William Henry.

I was just passing through Lake George this weekend and it appeared to be a very lively tourist destination with a lot of options to entertain. Options include a restored Fort William Henry, various lake crusies, Dr. Morbid's Haunted House, Dr. Frankenstein's Wax Museum, Six Flag's Great Escape and what appeared to be at least a dozen Fancy Miniature Golf Courses (the type you usually see down south). Nonetheless, I believe the sheer number of tourists in this area, many with families, could support at least one theater; even as a seasonal operation. I'm surprised that this town doesn't have one.
