Built in 1932 for the formerly sprawling Ft. Douglas, on the northeast outskirts of Salt Lake City. The stately, almost Jeffersonian, brick theater was opened almost all day during the hectic days of WW II. As the fort downsized continually after the big war, the theater saw less use, finally being opened only on weekends by the early 70's. It was used sporadically for various events until the Olympics, where it had some heavy use.

It is currently undergoing a total overhaul with state of the art equipment for sound and visual arts. I often have seen this edifice through the decades and am so glad it did not suffer the fate of many post theaters through the country. It is now part of the University of Utah.
