The Coronation Picure Palace opened towards the end of 1911. It was located on New Southgate High Road (today known as Station Road) close to Upper Park Road. Seating was provided on one floor apart from a small raised box at the rear which held four seats, this was the 'balcony'.

The cinema was never equipped to show 'talkies' as the owners had built a 'New Coronation Cinema' adjacent to the old one in 1930. The Coronation Picture Palace was converted into a dance hall which remained in use until the start of the war (c.1939) when it became a factory manuafacturing powder puffs!

The building remained standing until around 1970 when the entire Eastern side of Station Road and surrounding area was demolished and housing was built on the site.
