Sunrise Cinemas at Old Hyde Park Village is a seven screen theater, located in the historic Old Hyde Park district of Tampa by the Bay. The theater has been remodeled and renovated, and features seven screens. It features signature art, foreign, and first-run films. The theater has a cafe lounge area, and a flex space for events. Traditional theater concessions are also here, including popcorn with real butter. The theater also has wine tasting and film festivals from time to time.

The Sunrise Cinemas was closed in around March 2007. It reopened in September 2009 as the Cobb CineBistro with 6-screens.

This is a June 2004 article about the opening of Sunrise Cinemas at Old Hyde Park.

"Tampa Tribune
Byline: Alan Snel

Jun. 17--TAMPA, Fla. -- Sunrise Cinemas, which operates movie houses in South Florida, said it plans to re-open the former Madstone Theaters movie house in the Hyde Park section of Tampa on Friday.

The seven-screen theater, which plays independent, foreign and mainstream feature films, is an ideal fit for Sunrise Cinemas, said the company's marketing and advertising manager, Joel Thom.

The Fort Lauderdale company operates nine theaters in South Florida; the Hyde Park theater is the company's first theater on Florida's west coast. It has been renamed Sunrise Cinemas at Old Hyde Park.

"It's our kind of movie theater," Thom said.

Nothing will change at the Old Hyde Park theater except the removal of the Madstone Theater sign. New York- based Madstone Theaters Co., which announced it was going out of business and closing 10 theaters it owned nationwide, shuttered the Hyde Park cinema June 8. It began operating it in November.

"We're just thrilled to have someone come in so quickly. It should be a seamless transition for everyone. We were the unfortunate victim of Madstone's other failures," said Heather LaBrecque, marketing director for Old Hyde Park Village.

Margaret Murray, the theater's general manager, will stay on the job with the theater's 20 employees. Madstone told the theater June 7 it would close the facility because it was going out of business, Murray said".

Current construction is under way to re-open the cinema as a COBB Cinebistro' with 6 auditoriums.. this is a absolute GUT RE-HAB and I suspect that there will be no remenents of it's former AMC or Madstone Decor, as all exit doors had been re-located on the back walls, and the walls have been moved inside.

I managed this location prior to Sunrise getting booted by developers, as the condos that were to be built are not anymore.

The latest sign I saw was opening in Late Fall 09'
