This suburban theatre started life in 1974 as the twin screen Chalmette Cinema 1&2, located in the Cinema Mall shopping center on West Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette, Louisiana. The Cinema Mall was located directly next to what was originally a huge Woolco.

Thru the years, a third cinema was added in former retail space, then the original twins were each split into 2, then former Chuck E. Cheese space was taken over for 3 more...ultimately the complex had 9 screens at the time of its demise..caused by Hurricane Katrina on August 29 2005.

The entire mall flooded with well over 10 feet of water, and all that remains today are the steel girders and framing.

The mall has been renovated and will soon house an IHOP, a Save-a-Lot and a Big Lots. There are no plans to build a new theater.
