I am surprised that Warren hasn't protested the name of this theatre. Here is a 1982 photo of the Gay Theatre.

The zip code should be changed to 68787. Right now Google maps this address to Indiana.

I don't believe this theatre was demolished. It was operated by J&J Theatres and was converted to a twin. The theatre was renamed the March Twin Theatres. I closed on 4/24/09 but not demolished. It was located at 310 Main St., Wayne, Ne. 68787.

"Chuck1231," if I'm the person mentioned in your post above of 4/6/09. why would I protest the name of this theatre?

Does anyone here know when this theatre was built?

Yes Warren you are the person that I was talking about, when I first came across this theatre rather than think of the theatre I thought of you and all the negative comments you have made on other pages about Gay theatres. I don't understand you and your negativity. Why you are so determined to other member on CT. Members that have contributed more than any one else. You mentioned in one attack about numbers, well if that member hadn't contributed so much to CT there would be half the number of theatres and information on theatres listed. You made a comment about photo links on a St. Louuis page, that was so unnecessary, you yourself have linked from the same photo site, and what about your photo bucket links that seem to never work, or your newspaper links that are barely readable it at all. After fitghting for my life for two years and being able to get back in the swing of things on CT and see of the comments that you have made toward others I have all but lost interest in CT. your negative comments really goes against what CT was meant for. you have made a comment about numbers, is that your goal, numbers? The person you said this about is not about numbers, it is about his research and sharing with others. He has helped a lot of CT members in their research so I don't believe his goal is numbers. There have been others that have banned from CT for less that what you have said. I don't really care if they ban me for saying this about you I hardly post any comments on CT anymore. I check out the theatres in my email from CT and that is about it. I just really can't understand your point and why you are so cruel and unkind. Just one more thing, what one person sees as a cinema treasure doesn't mean that all will, but it is a cinema and may be a treasure to that person, why should we degrade them for feeling that way. Our personal feelings belong kept to ourselves and not posted to Cinema Treasures. That is not the purpose of the site.
If a person makes a comment in contribution on a theatre and there is an inaccuracy, there is a proper way to add a comment and make the correction. Enough.

The Gay Theater is listed under Wayne NE in the 1942-43 Motion Picture Almanac. It and the Crystal Theater in Wayne were run by Marschoene Theatres Inc., Philip L. March, General Mgr. Marschoene Theatres was part of March Brothers Theatres Inc. of Vermillion, South Dakota. Chuck1231, I agree that as long as Cinema Treasures has the electonic capacity then the more theaters listed, the better. And when posters make mistakes, there is a proper way to post a correction without being insulting and nasty about it.
