The Elk Theater opened in 1915 at 224 Elk Street (originally 824 Elk Street before the street was renumbered at some point). The theater was a concrete block structure costing $5,000 to construct. It remained open until 1918, closed and was open again from 1923 until 1926.

It reopened once again in 1931 as the Artistic Theater operating as a second run house. It closed for good in 1951. It was a motor repair shop in the 1980s.
