This Magic Johnson nine-plex inside the Harlem USA shopping complex was a ray of hope for this neglected but improving low income neighborhood when it opened on June 30, 2000 without the expected presence of Mayor Gulliani, who snubbed the project.

Featuring all-stadium seating, all digital sound, and ticket prices to match any other Manhattan multiplex, it has had a rough going with non-genre films even though it is the only theatre in the area.

In the summer of 2008 the entrance area glass looked like it had never been cleaned and half a block away, in front of the Apollo, you could buy pirated DVDs of the films current playing from two different vendors. Although such vendors have been actively eliminated from most other Manhattan streets, Harlem is apparently still being neglected.
