Located inside Butlin's Holiday Camp, which opened on 26th May 1962. The cinema was just one of the amusement facilities available to the holiday campers.

Butlin's Minehead was renovated in the 1980's and was re-named Somerwest World from 1986 until 1998. The company was taken over by the Rank Organisation in 1972 and by Bourne Leisure in 2000. The cinema was re-named ABC in the late 1990's and was open to the general public on the purchase of a day pass, as well as holiday camp residents. When Odeon Theatres took over ABC Cinemas in 2000, the name was changed to Odeon briefly, but soon reverted back to ABC. The holiday camp complex is now known as Butlin's Minehead.
