The Asheboro Cinemas 1 & 2 opened somewhere between 1969 or 1970 as a twin cinema, which was the only twin cinema that operated in all of Randolph County, North Carolina.

Martin Theatres acquired the Asheboro Cinemas from 1975 until 1982. Martin Theatres folded in the early-1980's, and from there Carmike acquired the theatre until its closing in 1995.
