The Alexander Picture Theatre opened in 1911 and was operated by Will Fare. It was located a few doors away from the Salvation Army Citadel in Walker Street.

The Alexander Picture Theatre remained a silent cinema, and by 1927, had closed and was advertised as a dance hall.
