The Capitol Theatre was operating prior to 1941, and during the 1940's it was operated by Paramount Pictures Inc. through their subsidiary Wilbey-Kincey.

Later, it was acquired by ABC Southeastern Theatres until its closing in 1975.

A Robert-Morton organ was installed in a Capitol Theater in Salisbury, North Carolina in 1924.
