The Alhambra opened in 1912. The owner was arrested by police for opening the Alhambra on a Sunday. The Alhambra was sold in 1969 to Cinema X International.

Cinema X International owned 3 other adult cinemas in Dayton. In 1970 Cinema X International renamed Alhambra the Cinema X East.

The Cinema X East was sold in 1979 and again in 1981 to Charlie McCartney.

The city closed the Cinema X East in July 1999 and it was demolished on December 17th, 2002.
