Cinema ordered to pay $10K in damages for search

A Quebec court has ordered a cinema to pay $10,000 in damages after staff searched patrons' bags and turned up smuggled snacks and birth control pills -- and in the process violated their privacy rights.

The incident happened in 2007 when a woman took her two daughters to Cinemas Guzzo in Montreal to watch the film "Shrek the Third," said CTV Montreal's Rob Lurie.

Dumb idea, violating someone's privacy e.g. a paying customer. Also the cinema chain forcing its employees doing something that they are not comfortable with. The best to deal with the problem is send an usher to check in the theatre once in a while without violating someone's privacy.

Sorry, never mind the employee part since they are private security guards not some teenage employee.
