This Classic Cinemas theater opened in the summer of 1995, with five screens seating 1,000, at the Lakeland Plaza shopping center in Fox Lake at the corner of Grand Avenue and Rollins Road. The space it occupied was originally a grocery store. The theater presents first-run movies at cheaper than first-run prices.

In 2004, four additional screens were added. The theatre has two auditoriums with digital projection and 3D.

Update from the Classic Cinemas website at www.classiccinemas.com:
In 2004, Classic Cinemas added four new auditoriums to the theatre. The new screens bring the total number up to 9. All auditoriums have large screens, digital sound and comfortable seats. The theatre also added a party room, allowing patrons to celebrate birthdays and other occasions at the theatre.

I was just there a couple weeks ago (first time in years) and was bummed to find tickets went up to $7.50/person. Course that's still nothing compared to anywhere else. I paid $14.50 for admission, nachos and a bottle of water all for myself for X3 opening night. Not bad considering a couple years ago I paid $20.00 for pretty much the same thing at the Round Lake Theaters.

At the Pacific multiplex at the Grove in Los Angeles, the adult admission for a film on a weekend night is $12.75. Add popcorn ($6) and a large coke ($5) and you're up to $23.75, not counting your date.

I've never been here, but my younger sister went here recently and said that the place was dirty. If that's true, it is certainly not up to Classic Cinemas high standards.

I was just there today, saw Get Smart and it was nice and clean. That was the first time I'd been there in a couple years. It's interesting that the theater has only been there since '95. I moved up this way a couple years later and when my sister told me about it, I thought it had been there for a number of years.
