The theatre was built in 1989 and is still open. The business is down when National Amusements opened the Linden Blvd in 1998 and Jamaica Center a few years later. The theatre is outdated with no cupholders and digital sound in one screen.

REG Crossbay II 7 Theatre is now the only Crossbay theatre still open. The REG Crossbay I 3 Theatre (Randforce's Crossbay Theatre) closed 6/23/2005

They still advertise this as Crossbay 2

I passed the theater a couple of weeks ago, and it was closed.

The former REG Crossbay I 3 Theatre is closed. The REG Crossbay II 7 Theatre is still open, and as on 8/25/2005, was showing: The 40 Year Old Virgin, Red Eye, Valiant, Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, Four Brothers, The Great Raid, and The Skeleton Key.

Crossbay II will close January 2, 2006, according to a story in last Sunday's New York Times. Both Crossbays were the first victims of the new 8-screen multiplex in Atlas Park, three miles away, which is due to open in February. Some of the employees of Crossbay II will be re-assigned to Atlas Park. No doubt the new project will also cause havoc for the cinemas in Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, and Ridgewood.

I don't understand the theatre business anymore. Isn't three miles away far enough for theatres to draw from different areas?

I've heard about this Atlas Park project. Some kind of huge mall and park in Glendale off Cooper Avenue. I remember reading about it and trying to figure out the exact location and what was being demolished and built over. In any event, Warren is right. If there'll be a multiplex with plenty of free parking, it will offer fierce competition to parking-challenged cinemas like the Kew Gardens, Midway and Continental Theaters (I'm not familiar with the situations in Ridgewood). And the owners at the recently expanded and renovated Queens Center Mall on Queens Blvd and the inferior Metro Mall on Metropolitan Avenue can't be too happy about its development either.

Isn't Ozone Park linked to Jamaica via subway and/or bus? Why didn't the reporter mention that as an option for O.P. moviegoers who must now travel to Brooklyn until the Atlas Park multiplex opens? There's a big multiplex on Jamaica Avenue near Parsons Boulevard.

The exterior was one of the most inviting I've ever seen. The interior must have been breathtaking!

Yeah... really swank, wasn't it? The decor was late 20th Century concrete bunker. If you like this style, you should have seen the Cinema City 5 in Fresh Meadows or you can run to Movieworld in Douglaston. I'm happy to say I never attended, but at least it was a place for locals to catch a film. Now that particular avenue of leisure has become a bit less convenient to travel.

The one advantage Crossbay 2 had was that the seats were comfortable and not crammed together with no leg room. Cinema City 5 was a converted Bohacks and had no leg room.

This theatre is now closed. Status needs to be changed. It did in fact close on Jan 2. According to a post on film-tech.com, there is a Regal close by that is due to open in the spring.

First of all I live near the now closed Crossbay 1 and I guess soon to be 2. Crossbay 2 has terrible maintenance, I haven't check recently how they are doing but I heard that they closed because of health inspections. I would really love for a new multiple cinema to be built in Ozone Park again.

I visited the theatre today and well lets just say there is no chance of a renovation, they took down the sign (imprints still visible) and they completely gutted the interior so its official that Cross bay 2 will not re open. I ll try to get a pic of it soon. It looks like it will follow Crossbay 1 and just become retail space for now.

I visited the theatre again today and saw a sign that said "Coming Soon Marshalls". I don't really understand how they can fit that store in that area. Its really too bad that both Crossbays are officially dead.

I was on a passing A train on my way back from Kennedy Airport and I can say officially that the Crossbay II is now, in fact, a huge Marshall's! It's a big improvement over the mostrosity that was the Crossbay II.
