Opened in 1915 with two adjoining 750-seat auditoria, the Duplex was one of the country's first twin theaters and pre-dates the multiplex craze by nearly five decades.

It closed in 1922, but its place in exhibition history remains.

This theater was rebuilt in 1925/26 as a theater/live music venue. In in the mid 80's as the Latin Quarter ( the sign still said Grand Quarters though ) and hosted a variety of Alternative and Hip-Hop artists. It is currently closed. There is a picture at http://www.flickr.com/photos/detroitderek/2190228931/ of it's condition as of January 2008.
