The Crestwood Plaza 10 originally opened with five screens. Five more were added when the mall went through a remodel. The back side of the Dillards Department Store (Stix, Baer & Fuller) was closed off and the new theaters were added there.

The entrance to the theaters are very convenient as they are located in the back of the mall and there is an entrance right there. You walk up the stairway to the lobby which is done in earth tones and iridescent lighting but very impressive. The new auditoriums have stadium seating but the older ones have staggered rows so the site lines are still great. All of the auditoriums have stereo sound. This is a very comfortable theatre all around. A big plus for AMC.

I used to go to this theater millions of times when I was younger all throughout the 1990s. In the 1990s, this was the grand mall for South County -- especially because then the South County Mall off of Lindbergh was desperately needing to be remodeled and attendance wasn't that great there. Crestwood was a very large mall and almost always had every space leased out. Attendance at Crestwood mall was always huge.

Today, a lot has changed. South County Center mall on Lindbergh finally went through a much needed remodel. Somehow around the 2000s, South County Center mall is the one to go to while in South County and Crestwood mall is now a dump.

The smaller 5 screen theater was located in the basement across from the food court. After a remodel (unsure of the year) the theater moved behind Dillards. The previous space in the basement became an Exhilarama game area.

Now that this mall is faultering, I'm amazed to see that the theater is still opened. Kenrick 8 down Watson has already closed. I don't believe any screens here have stadium seating. I wonder how much longer this theater has left in it before it closes along with the rest of this mall. Only time will tell!

When did the stadium seating for this theater begin?

I wonder what the future holds for this theater now that the mall is almost depleted of stores.

The five-screen complex opened in March 1986.

Mr. Alex what was the time from between closure of the Crestwood Theatre and the opening of the Crestwood Plaza Cinemas?

The Crestwood remained open for a year after the Crestwood Plaza opened.

I've been hearing rumors that AMC wants to pull out now that this mall is virtually gone. I'm in agreement and I think it's only a matter of time...

Even though the Crestwood Plaza 5 and the Crestwood Plaza 10 were in the same shopping mall, they were two, physically, seperate theatre complexes.

The closure of the Crestwood Plaza 5 and the opening of the Crestwood Plaza 10 occurred in May 1992.
