Opened in 1997, this was the first all digital, THX-certified multiplex in Arizona. It is decorated in an elaborate fashion with extravagant use of color, shapes, and neon lights. There is also a projector above the box office playing trailers at night. This has been Arizona's busiest theatre for the last few years, rivaling the AMC Mesa Grand 24. In 2003, 1.9 million moviegoers visited.

I noticed in this new entry that the style is listed as Cinerama. I don't know about that. The last Cinerama movie was released in 1969 and these theatres got built in 1997.

The Harkins Superstition Springs 25 was designed by Paul John Ladensack, of the Phoenix firm CCBG Architects. The design won an Award of Honor from the American Institute of Architects in 1998.

Two pictures of the theatre can be seen on this page (thumbnails: will open pop-up windows.)
