Is this the theatre that used to be called Merrick Mall Cinema? (it was not in a mall ) That theatre opened and closed a few times finally closing for good in the mid 80's. It had a long modern front and a great scope screen?

Is this theatre the Merrick Cinema five which opened in 2002? There was another Merrick theatre that opened in 1969 and closed in 1980.

That could be the theatre but it reopened 2 more times for a short time. Once they tried porno but it only lasted a few weeks. I think it might have closed for good around 1985.

The current Merrick Theater is NOT a reincarnation of either the "Merrick Mall Cinema", or the "Gables". This is a totally new building (opened in 2002). It has four screens, but generally lists fives movies as they rotate on the weekend or day/nights. It is a great family place and a wonderful addition to town!

So we need to add a listing for Merrick Mall Cinema.

The Merrick Cinemas is a well kept nice theater. That photo looks like someone took it quick riding past on the train!

This location was a dry cleaners well into the 1990's.

This theater is very noticeable to LIRR trains passing on the LIRR up above.
