The Regal theater opened in 1914 as the Muse-Us theater. Rewiring the Muse-Us theater for sound proved too costly, and it eventually closed its doors in 1931. The Muse-Us theater remained closed for almost a decade. In the spring of 1941 the Muse-Us theater was reopened as the Regal theater.
In the 1950’s the Regal, like so many smaller neighborhood theaters in those days struggled to remain open. It is listed as a Negro theater from 1949 through to 1955. By 1960, the Regal theater closed for good.
