The marquee is still on the front of the theatre with a for sale sign on it.

Does anyone know the current status of this theater? Is there an owner? I am interested… Drove by address -saw no marquis…surely it’s not gone? Please post if you know anything. looks like it was being renovated in 2007 according to previous posts.
Thanks!

I went by the theater a few weeks ago and this is what is happening. They spent $100,000.00 renovating the front and the lobby. The box office is beautiful as is the whole front. The lobby is being used by the owners right now as a real estae office. The plans are to renovate the auditorium which was condemened in 1993 and open as a dinner theate within the next 1-2 years. I will try to take a photo when I return there next week.

I wonder what the current status of this theatre and the restoration work is to date? I’ve been to Waynesville, but will now make a point of returning to this quaint NC town. There is a very quaint Christmas store in a former bank (vault still there) on main street that is a must-see.

The article dated Sept. 5. There might be hope for this theater and an opportunity to take photos of it if it does re-open.

I think the word “here” has to be highlighted in blue to allow for a photo to be shown as in the website posted by “lostmemory” on Jan. 26th.

This website has a photo but you can’t see much of the theater. Thats the bad news. The good news is, the Strand might be renovated and show movies again. (Be patient, the site loads slow)
