This small theater located in the Kennedy Shopping Center shows Indian films, although I have been told that from approximately the 1960’s-1980’s it showed mainstream pictures.

UA ran this theatre, as the Cinema 59 Twin. After they abandoned it in the late 80’s-early 90’s, the operator of the nearby Lafayette (Venturini) took it over and ran it as a second run. After not meeting with much success, it became a Bollywood house, which it remains to this day.

I was by there the other day and I asked how many seats the theatre had and one owner asked abrasively why and I told him I contribute on this website. His daughter was nice and said it had 385 and 265 totalling 650.

Venturini would occasionally show an art house movie or two. I know the chain ran the Colonial Theater in Pompton Lakes and the Lafayette, I also think they ran two in Pearl River. Can anybody share some additional info on this operator? (I’m guessing UA abandoned ship when they opened their 10-plex across town at the marketplace, which died with the opening of Palisades Center.)
