In June 1959 this film quietly opened at the Apollo, having been dumped by the distributor. The idiotic re-titling of “Friends for Life” (Amici per la pelle) did nothing to help this wonderful film, despite a glowing New York Times review. The film was directed by Franco Rossi and released in Italy in 1955.
