Hello All,

As a boy in the late 1940’s and ‘50’s, I used to attend this theater e-v-e-r-y Saturday afternoon with my pals. I have one correction…

The West End Theater was on the OPPOSITE side of this photograph. If you “swing” the photo 180 degrees across the street, this was the spot where the old west End used to be. Where the two story “newer home” is, that’s where the West End used to be.

The building on the corner of 16th Avenue and 18th Street was called “Liberty Hall.” It was a tavern, with a banquet hall in the back.

The “screen stage” side of the West End used to face 18th Street, just to the backside of Liberty Hall.

I have an old photo that I took of the theater, back in 1977. If the moderator of this board wants to see it, he/she can contact me. It is a 35 mm Kodachrome slide, so I don’t know how to transfer it to this website.

From the google photo it looks to be demolished – no buildings in the area large enough to be a theatre and a vacant lot in the shape of a long lobby with auditorium to the rear.
