How is this theater still operating as an Imax theater? No raked seating and horrible sight lines. Is Imax aware of this? You are better off going to any Imax Digital,RPX,Ultrascreen, BTX, Amc Prime, ETX, etc. theater
Sorry, the 2d showings are in 15/70 Imax. They are shown with a 2d Gt projector.
15/70 IMAX still shows here regularly (only “real” IMAX left in NY that way). Check their website and they list the digital and film IMAX showings (I saw National Parks Adventure on IMAX film here back in March).
No 70mm anymore? Shame….
The LeFrak Imax the is basically an Proscenium arch theater with a large screen attached to a steel frame. They converted to 4k digital projection with Dolby 3d. No stadium seating!
Was Hubble 3d the first Imax 3D film that played at this theater?
Now showing “HUBBLE 3D” and advertising with other commercial runs as the American Museum of Natural History Imax.
Sometimes when it shows Imax movies.
This still advertised as Naturemax, not LeFrak???
Here’s a link to a photo of the beautifully restored interior of this oft forgotten nugget: http://www.amnh.org/hostanevent/halls/lefrak.php
The IMAX screen at the Lincoln Square theater is larger and the seating comfortably configured specifically for the large format, but this is far more elegant space and the films are usually spectacular. Plus, there’s a balcony with front row seats offering the best view.
