The Court was one of the few theaters in New Jersey catering to the African-American audience back in the 1940s and 50s. I remember riding past the place in my Dad’s car and seeing the banners across the promotional one-sheets advertising “All colored cast!”

The biulding was demolished in the mid 1950s to make parking space for the Essex County Courthouse.
