Located in Harper Woods on Harper Avenue, this was the first drive-in to open in the Detroit area. It opened as the Drive-In on May 26, 1938 with “The Big Broadcast of 1938”. It had space for 675 cars. Later renamed Eastside Drive-In, it was operated for many years by General Cinema Corporation, it was later part of the Wisper & Wetsman chain. In the 1970’s, it showed adult movies.

The Eastside Drive-In closed in 1977 and was torn down a year later. The Westside Drive-In in Oak Park (also long gone) was the “sister” theatre to the Eastside Drive-In.
