The Palace stage seen from the top of the balcony, about 1974. Note the curtains extended across the opera box area on each side. The curtains had covered the wide, curved Cinerama screen, but by ‘74 the screen had been removed. The curtains were left in place to cover the damage done to the theatre by ripping out the boxes to accommodate the screen.
