The photo in the link above was taken before the larger marquee was installed, the canopy on the shop next door had been removed so the new marquee enjoyed an unobstructed view. I worked at the Mack and the Lark in the early 1960s as projectionist. The Mack held around 650 and the Lark was much smaller even with the balcony. I’m not sure where the F.D.Y got those seating capacity figures from. They can’t be right.

The Film Daily Yearbook,1941 gives a seating capacity of 650. In the 1950 edition of F.D.Y. the seating capacity given is 643.
