Several articles and reader letters about the Village Theatre and its operators, the Gordon family, were published in the local newspaper over the years, and its web site, dailypress.com, has an assortment of them conveniently linked on this web page.
I centered the pic on the theater. You are welcome.Passed there yesterday.Hairspray playing.
Very nicely designed theatre. The theatre was closed on the day I was in town so the only part of the interior I could see was what was visible from the front door. The lobby is small with what appears to be the original concession stand still in place. Exterior photos from February 2011:

This is a nice 2009 photo.
Here is the Village Theater in 1984.
While I know I’ve likely seen more than a couple movies here, I remember seeing Star Wars here with some friends.
I was clueless, along for the fun of it, with a friend’s parents driving us. So I just walked into the Village not knowing what was playing or that it was this big blockbuster movie. Cool surprise …
Here is another photo of the Village Theater.
Another large color photo of the Village Theatre.

This theater was the center piece of a planned community,Hilton Village, primarily ship yard workers.Get off the freeway when in Tidewater and visit this scenic area. The once thriving business district still has some interesting shops.
