Construction of the AMC Towne West 6 began in November of 1985. The 2,000-seat theatre was located in the Towne West Village Shopping Center launched in July of 1986. The shopping center’s name was changed to the Robinson Crossing Shopping Center in 1988 prompting AMC to rename the venue as AMC Robinson Crossing 6.

The six-plex was pressured by the Hollywood Spotlight 14 which launched in 1998. AMC closed up the AMC Robinson Crossing 6 on January 20. 2000. InterState Theatres of Dallas reopened the venue July 26, 2002 as a sub-run discount house offering 50 cent Tuesday shows and $1 to $1.50 pricing for films along with $1 hot dogs. The theatre sat 1,250 people. On December 7, 2007, InterState was taken on by Starplex Cinemas which ran the Robinson Crossing 6 through July 2013. Though unrelated, the 14-plex became Regal’s property in 2013 when the circuit bought out Hollywood Theatres.

Evans Theatres Co. took on the moribund six-plex following more than two years of vacancy. Evans moved equipment from their Crossroads 8 and using crowdsourcing site, IndieGoGo, to rekindle the Robinson Crossing 6 at its reopeing on December 18, 2015. Oddly enough, AMC would take back the property reducing seat count drastically with recliners and converting it to first-run status. Its reopening took place on October 2, 2019 under its second moniker of the AMC Robinson Crossing 6. It featured a MacGuffins Bar and other upscale amenities.

Like many theatres, the AMC Robinson Crossing 6 closed for the COVID-19 pandemic on March 16, 2020. It reopened September 3, 2020.

I remember when this was new. Saw Cape Fear and the Silence of the Lambs here.

Thanks, fred1. I see that the web site’s front page says that the grand opening took place on January 8 this year. The theaters have new seats. The house is all-digital, and 3D equipment is to be installed later this year.

The Robinson Crossing 6 is now operated by a company called Evans Theatres, who reopened the house late last year after it had been closed for about two years. It is their only theater and is operated as a discount house. The Norman Transcript published an interview with company vice president Joshua Evans on August 16 last year, before the theater reopened. There is no dedicated web site for the theater, but the company has this Facebook page.
